Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

(Last Updated: Sep 13, 2024)

Indian Internet Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (IIJFMT)  is an official publication of Indian Congress of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology (ICFMT) and is peer reviewed.

Introduction

Indian Internet Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. We adhere to the guidelines and best practices set forth by reputable organizations, including the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), to ensure the credibility, transparency, and fairness of the scholarly publishing process.

Author Responsibilities

a. Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their submissions are original works and have not been published elsewhere in any language. Any use of others' work, including text, figures, or ideas, must be appropriately cited and acknowledged.

b. Data Integrity: Authors are responsible for the accuracy and validity of the data presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is considered unethical and unacceptable.

c. Authorship: All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as co-authors. Authors should ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission for publication.

d. Multiple Submissions: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Concurrent submissions violate ethical guidelines and can lead to rejection.

e. Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research, its interpretation, or its publication.

Reviewer Responsibilities

a. Objectivity: Reviewers should conduct the peer review process objectively and provide constructive and unbiased feedback to authors.

b. Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews in a timely manner. If unable to meet the deadline or fulfill the review, they should inform the editorial office promptly.

c. Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all materials received for review as confidential documents and should not disclose any part of the content to others without permission from the journal.

d. Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, institutions, or companies associated with the manuscript.

Editor Responsibilities

a. Editorial Independence: Editors will evaluate manuscripts based on their academic merit, relevance, and originality, without any discrimination.

b. Fair Review: Editors should ensure a fair and timely peer review process, with appropriate feedback provided to authors.

c. Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must handle submitted manuscripts with strict confidentiality and not disclose any information about the submission to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

d. Corrections and Retractions: In cases of errors or misconduct, the journal will facilitate corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern as appropriate.

Journal Responsibilities

a. Editorial Board: The journal has an Editorial Board composed of reputable experts in the field who uphold the ethical principles of scholarly publishing.

b. Peer Review: The journal employs a rigorous double blind peer review process to maintain the quality and integrity of published articles.

c. Transparency: The journal is committed to transparency in its editorial and publishing processes.

d. Corrections and Retractions: The journal will consider and handle corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern promptly, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

Allegations of Misconduct

a. Reporting: Suspected cases of misconduct, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or unethical authorship practices, should be reported promptly to the editorial office.

b. Investigation: The journal will initiate a thorough investigation of any alleged misconduct and may involve relevant parties, institutions, or ethics committees as required.

c. Sanctions: If misconduct is proven, the journal will take appropriate actions, which may include manuscript rejection, article retraction, and notification of concerned authorities.

Review and Update This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement will be reviewed regularly to align with the evolving standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
